Since my holiday photo season is over I thought I'd share with you my favorite albums of this past year. 2011 was a great year as far as music and concerts I shot and went to. I knocked out alot of bands off my "Must See Live" list this year and I've also discovered a lot of great new bands and rekindled the flame on some bands I had lost connection with. 2011 will go down as a good music year so without anymore more gibber gabber, here is my Top 10 Favorite Albums that came out this year....
#10 Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues
Fleet Foxes have those harmonies that just gets to your soul. Every time I hear this song I get chills all over. Amazing talented group of dudes.
#9 The Horrors - Skying
I love songs that completely change tempo and "Endless Blues" pulls it off perfectly. First time I played this album I went through it and played it over again. That's how you know you've made a good album.
#8 Beirut - The Rip Tide
I love albums that make me want to get in my car and just drive. This is a total road trip album. Now if I only had a convertable, life would be great.
#7 Lykke Li - Wounded Rhymes
One of my favorite live shows I saw this year. Lykke Li was amazing live and her Sophmore album didnt dissapoint either.
#6 Chapel Club - Palace
If this album ever comes on on my ipod I'm giving you a fair warning now that I will listening to it over and over and over again. You have been warned.
#5 Radiohead - King Of Limbs
When ever Radiohead comes out with an album you know it will make it on the top 10 list. Album after album Radiohead delivers. Words can't describe the talent this band has so I'll let the music speak for it's self.
#4 Wu Lyf - Go Tell Fire To The Mountain
I serious have no clue what they are saying but man is their album awesome. When a band names themselves "Lucifer Youth Foundation" you just gota hear what they are all about. Eventhough I put the album at number 4 "Concrete Gold" is by far my favorite song of 2011. Hand Down.
#3 My Morning Jacket - Circuital
My Morning Jacket is an epic band period. That is all
#2 M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming
Its hard enough to make a great album but adding a second disc of songs is a feat not many bands can accomplish. M83 does it with skill and grace. I love albums that build and have that epic feeling to them and this album has it all.
#1 Portugal. The Man - In The Mountains In The Clouds
Since their first album to now, I have been obsessed with this band. I have seen them live twice now and I can't wait til they come back around. If Portugal is playing you better believe I will be there. Absolutely my top album of the year. I first saw this video when I saw them live at the house of blues in Anaheim. They started the show playing this video. It was before the Album had been released so we were getting a sneak peak. Everybody's mouth dropped when the video ended. It has to be one of my favorite videos to date.
